Welcome to the 2011/2012 School Year

What Is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for Holy Family School!!

How scrip generates revenue for HFS
Holy Family School purchases Scrip from various Scrip vendors. Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offers Holy Family School a substantial discount. Holy Family then re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount from two to fifteen percent or more – is Holy Family School’s revenue. For example, Safeway offers a 4% discount for Scrip purcahsed. If you purchase $100 in Safeway Scrip, we receive a 4% discount or $4.00. That $4.00 is revenue for HFS.

Please consider purchasing Scrip ---- it is essentially free money for our school!

Welcome American Express Gift Cards, Visa Prepaid Card and Target to our list of SCRIP Vendors

AMERICAN EXPRESS PREPAID CARD

We offer American Express Gift Cards. Below are some things you should know about this card:

American Express Gift Card is not a credit, charge, or debit card and has no activation fee. Redeemable at US, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Island retailers where The American Express Card is accepted. Includes mail order and online merchants. Not redeemable at cruise lines, for recurring billing purchases, at casinos, or ATMs. Usage restrictions apply for international airlines. Subject to applicable law, beginning 12 months after the date your Gift Card was purchased by Great Lakes Scrip Center, a monthly service fee of $2.00 will be deducted from your remaining balance. Note: because this is an "open-loop gift card", this service fee and expiration applies to all states, even those with non-expiration date laws. Please read their terms and conditions found on their website for pay at the pump gas purchases.

VISA PREPAID CARD

Here are somethings you need to know about the Visa Prepaid Card:

Not a credit card. It is a Visa prepaid card and can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Visit the website or call customer service to check your balance.

At checkout: Always select CREDIT. If your purchase is more than the card balance, first pay the difference with another form of payment.

At Restaurants: Make sure that you know whether or not an automatic tip is being included on the bill. For example, if your meal is $20, you must have at least $24 on the Visa card if tip is being automatically generated.

At Gas Stations: Please present your card to an attendant inside the gas station. The card will not work at the pump.

Online Purchases: Visit the cardholder website at www.prepaidrewardscenter.com and update your name and address information before shopping. Often times online merchants do not accept multiple forms of payments, so be sure your purchase balance is less than your card balance to ensure a smooth experience.

The card is a 12 month card. Fees begin on month 13 at a rate of $3 per month. Information you may read about a fee being applied after 6 months does not apply to any of the Visa cards you purchase with SCRIP.

TARGET

It's here...TARGET gift cards are now offered through SCRIP. Here are somethings you should know:

This gift card can be redeemed for merchandise or services at Target stores or Target.com and cannot be redeemed for cash or credit except where required by law. For balance information, call 800-544-2943. No fees and no expiration.

Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for Holy Family School.

How scrip generates revenue for HFS
Holy Family School purchases Scrip from The Great Lakes Scrip Center and SCRIP Pro. Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offers Holy Family School a substantial discount. Holy Family then re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount from two to fifteen percent or more – is Holy Family School’s revenue. How scrip generates revenue for HFS
For the 2009-2010 School Year, you can earn all of your fundraising commitment (excluding the Auction commitment of $150) by purchasing Scrip. For each dollar you purchase, you will earn 50% of the revenue earned by HFS towards your commitment. For example, if you purchase $100 in Safeway Scrip, HFS will receive $4.00 discount from Safeway. Of the that amount, you will earn $2.00 towards your commitment. The remaining $2.00 will go into the SCRIP General Fund for SCRIP Purchases.

Black Angus Steakhouse No Longer Available

Please advise that, effective immediately, Black Angus gift cards are no longer available through Great Lake Scrip Center. As you may or may not be aware, Black Angus Steakhouse's parent company is pursuing a reorganization through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. We hope that these actions help their long term viability, but in the meantime, Great Lakes Scrip Center has decided to discontinue the sale of Black Angus cards in our program.

The Black Angus Steakhouse gift cards are not returnable. We recommend that you use their gift cards soon.
